[So hey, Kaine is being released from prison! But first he's gotta meet his parole officer. Of course, Kaine is in a pretty high security class, so they probably assigned him some hardass who'd shove him back in prison at the drop of a hat...

But when he's brought to the meeting room, the door opens on a handsome redhead balancing his chair on two legs, hands folded behind his head. He's in uniform for now, looks pretty nice all buttoned up, but his vibes are still so casual when he brings the chair back down on all four legs and raises a hand in a wave.]

Mm-hm.

[He still stays in the bathroom for like. An age. But when he walks out, that twenty pounds of hair is gone. Everything's buzzed close to the scalp - you can see his face again.

It's a handsome face. Younger than Randy probably expected! In the ballpark of late 20s early 30s, and not like... I dunno, 40.

Kaine wanders out, looking for the state of the bed - or barring that, a couch.]

[Randy's just shoving the mattress onto the bedframe, turns at the sound of Kaine's approach and]

--Oh, shit, you're hot.

[markofkaine]

What??

[crimeson]

Okay I shouldn't say that I'm your parole officer but holy shit dude you were holding out on the world!

[markofkaine]

[He flusters visibly, going red the face and growling angrily]

Stop talking.

[crimeson]

[shuts up]

[markofkaine]

[Grunts,]

Bed done?

[crimeson]

[recovers]

[markofkaine]

Good. Go 'way now.

[THUNK right on the mattress.

[...chuckles softly and goes to sleep in his own bed. today's been exciting.]

[markofkaine]

[Sleep is great.

Until nightmares, sleep is great.]

[Randy can fall asleep basically on command. He also sleeps very, very lightly.

Which is how there's a gentle knocking on Kaine's door if he's made much noise at all in his nightmares.]

[markofkaine]

[He jolts awake with one word on his lips:]

--Ben!

[...Before gasping, rolling onto his back to catch his breath as he stares at the ceiling.]

...Ah.

[crimeson]

[...softly, past the door:]

You okay?

[markofkaine]

[Groans, rolls over.]

Go away.

[crimeson]

Okay.

[aaaaand the sound of retreating footsteps]

[markofkaine]

[Kaine spends the next while rolling around, feeling restless - before giving up. He sits, looks around...

it's not like he's under house arrest, just because he's apparently rooming with his parole officer.

and go for a little run.]

[Randy's going to be SUPREMELY ANXIOUS because he's noticing that, buuuuuut.

He'll stay home. Boundaries, don't push em too much. Don't scare him off.]

[It's hours later that Randy gets a knock on the door.

Because

Kaine didn't stop to ask for a spare key.]

[opens it pretty quick because he was just vibrating in the living room.]

Have a good stroll?

[markofkaine]

[The quickness doesn't escape his notice. Kaine raises a brow.]

Worried?

[crimeson]

You don't gotta go out the window, dude. Door works just fine.

[markofkaine]

[Shrugs]

[crimeson]

[shrugs]

Fair 'nough. We can get you a key in the morning.

[Walks past him, back to his room]
