[When Kaine stormed out of the house, he had no direction. He simply wanted to explode - so that the swirling hurricane of loss in his chest could finally erupt out of him and tear his feeble body asunder, scattering it to the winds where he’d never have to feel this pain again. Instead, he manages to knock a tree or two over, screaming with each strike before escaping into the treetops.

Somewhere high. Somewhere he won’t be found (delusional). Kaine toys with the idea of simply living up here in the trees forever - the idea of going back to the house where Adrien once was and is no longer makes him feel sick. The spectre of love, haunting him like a ghost, shadowing every cold bed and empty doorway. Its claws dig into him, and he can’t help but weep.

At least hidden in the canopies, no one can hear him. He can empty himself into the dark.]

[A roar bubbles up in his throat - this pain, it won't go away unless it goes somewhere. Somewhere that's not him. Without thinking, he leaps at Sett to try and punch him out of the tree.]

YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!

[He gets that satisfying THUD of a connection, and the bark of the tree shreds under Sett's claws as he tries to keep from topping to the ground.]

[HE SLIPS. And grabs a handful of Kaine's clothes] TELL ME WHAT I KNOW!

[Either Kaine's sticking power really isn't as good as it used to be, or this is some oldass bark. Either way, when Sett grabs him - he goes down with him, with a crusty chunk of tree still stuck to his feet and hands as he falls. As if everything wasn't bad enough.

But that doesn't mean he isn't going to try and get some more punches in before they hit the ground.]

[Kaine... probably should've focused more on stopping his fall, instead of wailing on Sett. Instead, he's treated to gravity slamming him down on top of the giant cat. And while a bed of pure muscle might've technically made for a softer landing than rocks and dirt, they weren't that soft. I mean, look at him.]

[Sett is just, this is not how he'd like Kaine on top thanks. ACTUALLY NONE OF IT HAS BEEN.

His arms flop to the side and he's just going to. Wait for his healing to catch up to everything that just happened.]

[Kaine doesn't seem to be listening to him. His hands, balled into fistfuls of Sett's shirt, seemingly want to keep throttling him - only the spirit has died. He lies there, (not thinking about how his face is basically pressed into the biggest tiddies in town,) crumpled and defeated.]

[One of the most frustrating things in the world was when Sett had a point. That wasn't supposed to happen. He was supposed to be a meat headed idiot and they could continue to not address many multitudes of things, and that was that.

The cosmos wanted Kaine to be alone! This was just proof! That every good thing in his life was underserved and would eventually be stripped away, bringing him back to nothing.

It hurt. In his dark melodrama, he wanted Sett to hurt too. Misery shared, but not halved - doubled, large enough to swallow them both, so at least if Kaine couldn't share in happiness, he wouldn't drown alone.

Teeth grit, he growls out the words, in audible pain,]
